ALERT: Cover Winner & Discount End

Greetings Capture Indy folks! We hope you're doing well. We have some exciting news to share with you.

First, the Capture Indy book is off to press. Yay! It looks amazing, thanks to all of your incredible submissions and tireless voting. Thanks so much for all you did to make this project possible. We are thrilled with the result, and sure you will be too! There were so many good photos, we actually decided to increase the size of the book. Instead of the 11x8.5 (in.) trim size that was advertised on the site, we upped the book to 11.125x9.5 (in.). That means it will look even more impressive on your coffee table.

This is a good time to remind you the pre-sale discount is just about to expire. A limited quantity of books will be available in a few short weeks, but the time to grab your copies (for yourself and as the perfect holiday gift) at a huge discount will go away soon. This is your last chance to save $10.00 on the book! We're also offering free shipping so you can purchase multiple copies to give away as gifts!

To save $10 and get free shipping (offer expires soon), go to:
http://buy.captureindy.com/

The DVD (included free) is also off to manufacturing. It's full of more than a thousand great Capture Indy submissions. We're sure you'll love it! If you submitted a photo to Capture Indy, at least one of your submissions is on the DVD. You're going to be famous!

We are also excited to reveal the cover winner today. We're keeping a tight lid on the rest of the winners until the book is released, but the cover winner is one we wanted to reveal ahead of time. Check it out for yourself at:

ALERT: Let's Talk Deadlines!

Hey folks! We have a few housecleaning items everyone needs to be aware of so we thought we'd wrap them all up in one giant alert.

First, do you realize there's less than a week left to submit photos?!? That's not long at all! We've had a great turnout in terms of photos, with more than 8,000 photos submitted so far. Let's see just how high we can push that number. Submit your latest and greatest photos before the deadline!

Once the counter in the top right reaches zero, submissions will close and Vote Week will begin. Vote Week is pretty self-explanatory. It's a week where everyone needs to garner all the support they can for their photos. It's a week to camp out on your computer in front of Capture Indy and try to get your vote percentage graph (on your user profile page) up to 100%! The total vote count is in the half million range so it's going to be a mad dash to the finish!

Before the counter reaches zero and Vote Week begins, we need everyone to shore up their captions. Remember, these photos will be put in a hard-bound fine-art book. It's going to sit on coffee-tables all over the place. We're going to try to use captions "as-is" for the most part, but if your photo has a caption that just doesn't make sense, or doesn't really describe the photo, or is 500 words long, or has a bunch of errors in it... well we might just have to skip it or edit it.. and we really don't want to do that. Bottom line: take a look at your captions and whip them into book-form shape! (To edit a caption click the "edit info" button on the photo's page.)

Speaking of the book, the end of Vote Week also marks the end of the contributor discount on the book. If you've submitted a photo or voted for more than 150 photos, we gave you a coupon code worth $5 off every book you order. Be sure to head to the order page and click the "buy it now" button before the chance to save is gone.

Now upload your best shots before it's too late!

ALERT: Photo Challenge: Arts & Culture

You know what would be super fun?!? A photo challenge! We've noticed a general slowing of submissions in the Arts & Culture chapter, so we're going to run a photo challenge to encourage submissions there. So what is art and culture? There's all sorts of things going on that highlight the art and culture in our area. Anything to do with food, sculpting, painting, music, the theater, arts in education, or anything that captures our cultural heritage... you get the idea. There are tons of things to capture, so get out there and capture it!

When you upload photos, you'll see a spot to enter photos for this challenge at the bottom. To enter a photo you've already uploaded, go to your photo's edit page and enter it at the bottom of the page. To get to the edit page, click on the "Edit Photo" button on your photo's normal view.

At the end of the challenge (June 18th), we'll feature our favorites. Getting featured is good because it means your photo will get more views, and thus, more votes. So get out there and take pictures of arts and culture!
